Get Ready to Rock with Cleveland’s CBS 19 and WUAB 43 "The Block" at Summerfest ’04!

Cleveland, OH – June 3, 2004 – On Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th, join Cleveland’s CBS 19 and WUAB 43 "The Block," as the Berea County Fairgrounds are transformed into a 4th of July summertime spectacular for Cleveland and all of Northeast Ohio, with a brand new (sure to be classic) summertime event -- Summerfest ‘04!

Summerfest ‘04 will be a 4th of July festival that celebrates all the best that summer has to offer in classic style. A two-day festival of live music, food, art, and fun activities will help Clevelanders celebrate Independence Day weekend in style. And best of all – Summerfest will be a great value for the whole family! Admission will be just $5 (partial proceeds to benefit the Cleveland Jaycees and Plain Dealer charities). The crown jewel of performances will take place on Sunday night, with a concert by the Cleveland Pops Orchestra ending with Northeast Ohio’s best fireworks display! Summerfest will take place from Noon to midnight both Saturday and Sunday, with the fireworks show scheduled for approximately 10:00pm on Sunday.

Live music will rock the Fairgrounds from early afternoon until 11pm each night. From hard rock to classic oldies, there’ll be music for people of all ages and interests. Five stages will be jammin’ all day long, featuring blues, country, rock, swing, gospel, disco, reggae, Latin, German, Irish and polka music – truly something for everyone! Bands already on the schedule include Cleveland’s hottest band, Mushroomhead, as well as Robert Lockwood, Jr., (Blues), Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd tribute band), Carlos Jones & the PLUS Band (Reggae), Prayer Warriors (Gospel), Noel Quintana’s Latin Crew (Latin), Crooked Mile (Country/Rock), Rosavelt (Rock), Disco Inferno (70’s Disco), the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and plenty more!

While enjoying all the great live music, Summerfest ’04 will also be the best place in town to eat fabulous foods from around the world! Eateries on-site will form the "United Nations Café," featuring food from various places and cultures -- of course, all the classic American favorites, plus Chinese, Vegetarian, Greek, Italian, Jamaican, and more. And, it wouldn’t be a July 4th celebration without ample amounts of ice cream, lemonade and popsicles!

In addition to the music and food, a huge Art Gallery will showcase many of northeast Ohio’s premier artists. Two fairground buildings will be converted into movie theaters where you can cool off for a bit while enjoying the best Rock ‘n’ Roll movies ever made. Some of Cleveland’s best DJs will also be spinning, and a karaoke corner will be available for the singer in all of us!

Children will be able to enjoy their independence with carnival-style fun, in "Kids World." This family fun area will feature plenty of children’s activities and large inflatables for non-stop fun for the younger folks. A variety of activities will entertain the kids all day long, so bring the whole family! Mist tents will also be available in "Kids World" to help cool off the whole gang.

Finally, don’t miss out on meeting your favorite 19 Action News anchors as well as the Block hosts from WUAB 43 "The Block," who will be on-site at the festival all day long. And, if you can’t make it to the Fairgrounds Sunday night, you can watch live coverage of the Summerfest ‘04 fireworks on 19 Action News at 10, on WUAB 43 "The Block" Sunday night.

And remember -- Summerfest ’04 is a rockin’ family value – with admission at just $5, plus plenty of on-site parking for $5.

Don’t miss the Cleveland Pops Orchestra’s patriotic tribute to America. The Singing Angels will also accompany the Cleveland Pops for some patriotic sing-a-longs! Come out early in the day, bring your lawn chairs and blankets for some good, old-fashioned Fourth of July fun, and fabulous live music! Join Cleveland’s CBS 19 and WUAB 43 "The Block" for the best Independence Day Celebration Cleveland has ever seen, with Summerfest ’04 -- Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea!
