Introduction

The Alumni & Family Committee

is a subcommittee of the

Development Committee of the

Singing Angels whose membership consists of

Alumni, Parents of Alumni and Parents of Singing Angels

It is an integral part of the organization.

 

Our members support and promote

the Singing Angels through

special projects, programs, fund raising

and donations of money, time and equipment.

 

Our goal is to support the Singing Angels

and to promote membership in

the organization and support of

the Singing Angels mission.

 

The Alumni & Family Committee

is an independent auxiliary, and membership

does not make you a member

of The Singing Angels.

Executive Committee 2005-2006

The Alumni & Family Committee is soliciting interest from its members to serve as the Treasurer of the Committee. The duties of the Treasurer would involve book keeping and otherwise managing the funds of the Alumni & Family Committee. Persons with appropriate qualifications should indicate their interest by e-mailing Dennis Matejka at alumni@singingangels.org.

Class Coordinators

The Alumni & Family Committee is soliciting interest from its members to serve as Class Coordinators. Much like a class representative at a high school or university, Class Coordinators of the Alumni & Family Committee will be responsible for maintaining communication and contact with Alumni from their respective period of time and sharing that information with The Alumni & Family Committee and with the Singing Angels for distribution in newsletters and other materials. Class Coordinators are encouraged to use e-mail, regular mail and telephone correspondence to solicit and encourage interest and participation in Alumni and Family Committee events. Persons interested in serving as a Class Coordinator should indicate their interest by e-mailing Dennis Matejka at alumni@singingangels.org.

Bylaws of the Alumni & Family Committee of the Singing Angels

Article I

NAME

The name of this committee shall be the Alumni & Family Committee of the Singing Angels.

Article II

PURPOSE

1. To cooperate in presenting, promoting and supporting the goals and purposes of the Northern Ohio Children’s Performing Music Foundation, Inc. (also known as the "Singing Angels").

2. To promote membership in the Singing Angels.

3. To fulfill such functions and activities as may be suggested or approved by the Singing Angels.

4. To establish, invest and support funds for scholarships, special purposes or activities for the Singing Angels, a tax-exempt organization within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

5. To promote the Singing Angels to all people regardless of race, sex, religion, age, mental or physical ability or national origin.

Article III

MEMBERSHIP

Section I The following persons shall be eligible for membership:

a. any person over eighteen (18) years of age who, during their lifetime, enrolled or participated (whether enrolled as an "Angel" or engaged as a musician) in the Singing Angels for a period greater than two (2) consecutive semesters ("Alumni");

b. any person who is parent or sibling of an Alumni ("Family of Alumni"); and

c. any person who is the parent or sibling of a person who currently is enrolled or participating (whether enrolled as an "Angel" or engaged as a musician) in the Singing Angels ("Family of Angels").

Section 2. Membership shall be classified as Active, Sustaining and Life.

a. Active members shall pay annual dues, are expected to attend scheduled meetings, shall have the right to vote and should participate in the projects of the organization.

b. Sustaining members shall pay annual dues, and have the right to vote.

c. Life Membership will be awarded to a member upon payment of a specified amount and will have the right to full membership.

Section 2. Dues shall be determined by the Executive Board subject to approval of the Singing Angels

a. Dues are payable on or before July 15 of each year.

b. Anyone joining after June 1 will have their membership continue through July 30th of the following year.

c. Any member whose dues are unpaid shall receive a reminder call. If dues remain unpaid, their membership shall terminate until dues are paid

Section 3. The fiscal and membership year shall coincide with the fiscal year of the Singing Angels, as the same may change from time to time.

Article IV

OFFICERS

Section 1. The Officers of the Committee shall be a President, Vice President, a Secretary and a Treasurer, who shall be the Executive Committee. They shall act in an emergency and shall have all power to take action in the interim between Executive Board meetings.

Section 2. The President of the Committee shall be the Chairman of the Alumni Subcommittee of the Board of Directors of the Singing Angels. The remaining Officers constituting the executive committee shall be elected at the annual meeting of the Alumni & Family Committee for a one-year term. They are eligible for re-election to the same office at the discretion of the nominating committee and the general membership.

Section 3. A majority vote of those members present and voting shall elect officers to be elected by the Committee. If there is but one candidate for each office, the Secretary may, by unanimous vote of the membership, cast the ballot for the slate as presented.

Section 4. A vacancy in any elective office shall be filled by the Executive Board until the next annual meeting.

Article V

DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section 1. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Committee and the Executive Board,, conduct all business of the Committee under the direction of the Executive Board, appoint all Standing and Special Committee Chairmen and be ex officio member of all committees, except the nominating committee. He shall represent the Committee in all official functions of the Alumni & Family Committee, on the Board of Directors of the Singing Angels and in the community.

Section 2. The Vice President shall perform the duties in the President’s absence and such other duties as may be determined by the Executive Board.

Section 3. The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings.

Section 4. The Treasurer shall be responsible for all monies of the Committee and deposit same in a bank account opened and maintained by the Singing Angels, pay all bills by check and submit a written financial statement at the meeting of the Executive Board.

Article VI

MEETINGS

Section 1. There shall be an annual meeting of the general membership to be held in June.

Section 2. Special meetings may be called by the President or upon the written request of five members. Notice of special meetings shall include the proposed business to be considered.

Section 3. A QUORUM for any meeting of the Committee shall be TEN MEMBERS present.

Article VII

EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1. The Executive Board, composed of the Officers and Chairs of the standing committees, shall be responsible for the general supervision of the work of the Committee in the interim between meetings of the general membership.

Section 2. The Executive Board shall meet monthly except for the "Summer months." Special meetings may be called by the President or upon the request of four members of the Executive Board.

Section 3. THREE EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS present shall constitute a QUORUM of the Executive Board.

Article VIII

DISSOLUTION

Section 1. The Alumni & Family Committee of the Singing Angels may be dissolved by the Singing Angels or, with the prior approval of the Singing Angels, by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the active membership, provided, however, that:

a. The proposed resolution to dissolve be published and mailed to membership thirty days prior to a general membership meeting.

b. Absentee ballots shall be provided for those active members unable to attend the meeting at least one week before the general meeting

Section 2. In the event of dissolution of the Alumni & Family Committee of the Singing Angels and after payment or provision for payment of all liabilities of the Committee, the organization shall dispose of all its assets in the following manner:

The assets will be distributed to the Singing Angels, which in itself qualifies under 501 (c) (3) or could qualify, to be used at its discretion.

All such funds shall be transferred by six months of the date of -dissolution and completion of audit of the books.

Article IX

Roberts Rules of Order Revised shall be the parliamentary authority for this organization in all cases to which they are applicable and which they are not consistent with these bylaws.

Article X

These bylaws may be amended at any meeting by a two-thirds vote of those present and voting, providing notice of the proposed amendments shall have been given all members prior to any meeting where they shall be considered.
